It is time to fight the best spiritual warfare ever fought. It is time to put on the Armor of God and not let the enemy get in our thoughts and control us. It is time to show the enemy who is our Lord and who holds our thoughts captive. Let’s suite up and win this battle.

The bible tells us that the christians life is a battle against sin and satan. We are the soldier of Christ in a spiritual warfare. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 and 2 Timothy 2: 3-4 talks about how we are soldier of Christ and how we are fighting this battle for him.

Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about each piece of armor. There are 6 pieces: belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit. This scripture tells us that we are not fighting flesh and blood but we are fighting wickedness.  Apostle Paul goes on to tell us that if we put on the full Armor of God, we will be able to stand up against our enemy. Please read this scripture whenever you need to be reminded of what each piece is.

“ Stand therefore, having girded your waist with the truth…” (Ephesians 6:14).

The belt is what holds the armor in place. Every other part of the full armor of God is attached to the belt of truth, you will not defeat the enemy without the truth and “Gods word is the truth” (John 17:17). As I read through different devotions and scriptures, I saw that the belt of truth has 2 meanings. The first meaning is the more obvious  meaning, the truth of the scripture. We need to listen to the truth of the scripture opposed to the lies of satan. John 8: 44 tells us that Satan is the father of lies. Why would we want to continue to listen to him over the truth of the word of God. In John 8: 31-32 Jesus tells the Jews, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Wow!!! If we live by the word of God and become a disciple and know the truth, we will be set free. I know that is the way I want to live, how about you? The enemy wants us to believe that we are sinful, lost, without hope, not enough and so on but God’s love and salvation will set us free of sin and death. Let’s learn the truth of Gods word and thrive to live by that. The second meaning I read was on our personal commitment to truth. We should be living a life that is upright, without deceit and transparent. If we live a life committed to the truth and people can see that in us and see our happiness and freeness, then we can help people join the walk of faith with Christ. Just as people need to see faith in order to live in faith, people need to see truth in order to live the truth. So, let’s belt up and know the truth of the WORD OF GOD. Let’s remind those around us of the scripture of the Lord and share the truth with each other.

…”with the breastplate of righteousness in place..” (Ephesians 6:14)

The breastplate shields and covers our heart and other vital organs. Proverbs 4:23 says. “ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” That is the meaning of Gods righteousness to us. It protects us from all of our enemies lies and accusations. Righteousness means to be morally right or justifiable. This is not to say that the breastplate is for our own righteousness but it is the gift of righteousness from Christ. It is his word that we follow that makes us righteous. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says “…that we made be the righteousness of God in him.” Or Romans 3:10, “There is no one righteous, not even one,” and Romans 10:3 says, “Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.” Those last two scriptures show that we are no righteous for being human, once we walk with Christ and then, only then, are we gifted with righteousness. We need to accept the Lord as our savior. Then we can use the breastplate of righteousness against the enemy. We need the gift of righteousness from God but we also need to continue the righteousness once we are gifted. Continue to follow the Word God. The enemy will tempt us a lot through life but we will use our breastplate of righteousness to protect our heart. Our obedience in the Lord with protect our hearts from sin. Remember we are easy targets when we battle alone. Reach out to fellow christian soldiers for prayer to overcome the enemy and to be able to suit up and protect your heart with the truth and righteousness of God. Use scripture everyday to help overcome the lies of our enemy.

“…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)

The gospel shoes are the shoes we wear to walk wherever the Lord leads us. Apostle John says, “He who says he remains in him should walk just as he walked.” (1 John 2:6) In John 10:27 Jesus says, “ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” If you follow the word of God and follow him, you will wear the shoes of gospel and peace. Our enemy will place many bumps in our road and hope that we fall but if we stay strong and wear our gospel shoes, following and obeying the Lord we can cast away the enemy. I was doing some research and found that the Greek meaning for peace is oneness or wholeness. The gospel is the forgiveness of sins in access to and oneness with God through our faith in Christ. The ones in the Lord will produce the peace we need to push all negative thoughts of the enemy away. With good shoes you can work all day, walk or run and can go anywhere. In Ephesians you can read how we need to stand and need to stand firm. The enemy will place worry and anxiety in us and tempt us with sin but if we stand firm in Christ, he will not be able to shake us. So lets put on our gospel shoes of peace and stand firm in the Lord and say “ Adios Satan, not today.” Ask the Lord daily in prayer to remind you of his gospel work in you. Build yourself and who you are in the Lords work and not your work. Follow his word and stand firm. Lets hold each other accountable and stand firm together on this walk with Christ. I know I am mind blown at this point, how could I not want to build myself from the Lords word and stand firm with him. I want to shake every thought and lie they enemy tells me. Lace up people because we got some new shoes in town today.

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you will be able to shield all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16)

It was said that the Romans carried animal hide shields and would dip them in water before battle to extinguish the fiery darts that were shot at them. Our enemy will attack us with doubt but the shield of faith will block the doubt. Faith will keep you shielded while walking with Christ. 2 Timothy 3:12 says it best, “..that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted i me until that day.” Faith guards us like a shield. What we have to realize is that faith does not come from within us, faith is a gift from God. Romans 12:3 says that “God distributed a measure of faith to each one.” As we walk wit him, the faith grows and develops until it becomes a shield and protects us so we can live a victorious life in Christ. Paul experienced this amazing protection of faith from Christ. Paul says, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I know longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” How powerful is that scripture. Follow the scripture, “ Live by faith not by sight.” Im just saying, let’s all start living in the word of God so we can be gifted with the faith of protection to help shield us from the enemy. We can all experience this in our lives. As it is said in 2 Timothy 4:7, “ I have fought the good fight, I have Kept the faith.” I want to be able to say that one day, don’t you? Pray to God and ask him to help increase your faith in his word and not by your flesh. Let’s become full of faith from the Lord and shield ourselves from the hurt of the enemy.

“Take the helmet of salvation…” (Ephesians 6:17)

The helmet protects the head, one, if not the most vital part of our body. It holds the seat of our thoughts and our mind. It holds our voluntary and involuntary actions. When we have the full knowledge of our salvation and faith in Christ, we will not be changed by the enemies deceptions. When we accept and know that our sins are forgiven by Christ when he died upon the cross, we will have peace that nothing, not even the enemy, can break. “ Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things,” (Colossians 3:2). Set your mind on the scripture in the word of God and surrender and repent the thoughts that do not line up with scripture. Those lies and deception are the voice of Satan pulling you in to him and away from Christ. Y’all, that is the last thing I want. Bye bye satan and hello Jesus. The helmet rest on the work of Christ to save us and is his work of salvation in every part of our thoughts and decisions. Our mind is the main battlefield of our spiritual warfare. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).  “ And this is the testimony: God has given us internal life and this life is in his Son,” (1 John 5:11). After reading that scripture the most famous, well-known verses pops in my head…John 3:16. Say it out loud and proud with me, “…He gives his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him may have internal life.” If that does not have you ready to throw on the helmet of salvation and hold the Lords faith in you, then I don’t know what will get you more excited. This stuff is amazing and will give you ETERNAL life. Bring it on. Hats off to the Lord.

“…and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” ( Ephesians 6:17)

The sword of the spirit is our only weapon of offense. The rest of the armor of God is our protections of defense. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as fas as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Jesus used this part of the armor when Satan tempted him in the wilderness. The Lord was not tempted once by Satan but three times by Satan and he responded with the truth of Gods word each time. Jesus repeated the words of scripture to destroy Satans temptations, deceptions and lies. Luke 4: 1-13 shows how the Lord used the sword of the spirit when being tempted multiple times by satan. Luke 4: 1-13 is a chapter named “The Temptations of the Lord”. Even the lord is tempted by satan but he uses the sword, which is the truth of the word of God. What is more powerful than the God’s word of truth? The answer to that questions is nothing. That is why I am writing this for you, so we can join together and become more familiar with the word of God and its truth and powers. That way we can use our sword of the spirit to pierce through our enemy with the truth of the Lord. The sword of the spirit both protects us and and destroys our enemy. Pick up that bible next to your bed and start reading scriptures out loud. Stay humble when you are reading and let the enemy shake in fear and anger because you have received the word of God. You have been gifted with the truth to defeat the enemy. Let’s win this battle and encourage and motivate others to win the battle as well.

All the pieces of the armor are found in a relationship of God. It is not hard to armor up for battle. We can all do it. When you give your life to Jesus and accept the truth and are gifted with faith and righteousness, then you are fully clothed in the armor of God. Here are some questions for you to think about:

What do you do when you are weak?

Are you certain in your salvation of the Lord?

Do you accept the word of God?

Have you been gifted with faith and righteousness?

Are you walking with the Lord and sending the enemy away?

We all have to face these questions. But when we are fully clothed in the armor of God, the weakest of His children is more than a match for Satan. Ephesians 6:10-11 says it best, “Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6 has been a powerful chapter of the word to read. We can win this battle. We do not need to do this alone. We can motivate and hold each other accountable to live by the word of God. So get ready my people, because we are about to put on a full body of armor and fight this spiritual warfare battle each day. We are going to fight the battle together and show satan who the real soldiers of the Lord are. Join me in this walk. Let’s have a wonderful, upright and joyful life full of faith and truth with God. Read this when you need to be reminded that you are so strong and you are enough to be loved by God and feared by the enemy. Let’s show satan whose boss.
